With the arrival of September, the great majority of workers and professionals face the return to routine. After a few weeks of relaxing, disconnecting, traveling and leisure time, returning to work and our obligations can be quite hard. To make the return to routine lighter, without getting overwhelmed, you must first stay calm, have a positive attitude, and follow the following tips, to adapt back to your routine.
- Incorporate progressively. Don’t try to take on everything on the first day, because you will probably get stressed and you won’t be able to be efficient. Establish priorities and advance slowly, over the days, you will pick up the pace once you are more adapted.
- Set goals. September means beginnings, so many people take the opportunity to set new goals in the same way they do in January, with the start of the new year. Setting goals beyond work is crucial to maintain motivation and enthusiasm.
- Get organized. It is very useful to have an agenda or calendar to help you get organized and follow the tasks you have already completed. It is possible that after the vacations you find yourself a little more distracted than usual, or even absent-minded, and then, you don’t know very well what to do and when. With an agenda you can oversee the tasks in a much more visual way, which will help you a lot during these dates.
- Keep healthy habits. A good diet, sleeping the right hours, and regular exercise are key to maintain energy and not to decline at the beginning of the course. It is important not to neglect these aspects since a healthy life is the basis for successfully facing the return to routine and with the demand that is required.
- Set aside time for yourself. Routine doesn’t have to mean giving up your free time. Reserve moments of your day for activities that you enjoy, such as reading a good book, watching your favourite series, getting a massage or having a drink with your friends. These moments will help you disconnect and recharge your batteries.
The return to routine should not be a stressful experience. With a little preparation and a positive mindset, we can get back into the routine without getting overwhelmed. In addition, you can follow our tips and you are sure to experience a smoother return to routine and avoid falling into post-holiday syndrome.
